ACTIONS: nervous system tonic, tonic to testosterone system, tonic to reproductive organs, antidepressant particularly useful for cases with anxiety and a sexual component, urinary antiseptic, laxative, diuretic.
INDICATIONS: frigidity in women or impotence in men, cystitis, renal catarrh, constipation, irritable cough, asthma, prostate weakness
CONSTITUENTS: a volatile oil containing pinene, cineol, cymol, arbutin (urinary antiseptic), cymene, cadinene, copaenen (useful in lung inflammation), thymol; alkaloids, flavonoid, cyanogenic glycoside, tannins, resin
PREPARATION AND USE:
-infusion of 1 tsp leaves and 1 c boiling water, three times daily
-1-2 ml tincture three times daily
-as a nerve tonic, can be combined with oats or skullcap
